Actaully, this is not all bad. As petrol and diesel etc are major costs for most it will help combat deflation. Deflation would put the brakes on personal spending big style putting the economy further into recession and we dont want that.
Not sure i get this. The crisis has been looming for the last 20 years plus and yet the man in the hot seat gets burnt. How about we all take a litle blame. How many of you have owned new cars/van hollidays wherever you fancy. How many of you are (or where) property millionaires. Owned BT shares when they where £20 and not £2 each. It was never real and we all knew it. The buble has burst, suppliers are strugling to get paid and you all want someone to blame. Better to have had and lost than never had at all. Happy Days

It's been clear for years that it couldn't last and the 'regulators', governments included, are reprehensible for a massive failure in the regulation of the entire financial sector. The greed that caused it all motivated the majority of people to take the view, "eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we shall die" - well the eating, drinking and merrying is now over for millions for a good time to come!

I think that the chap has a sensible argument, If I moved to another non english speaking country they would not give me my pension/dole money at the post office if I couldnt ask for it in their language.

Much as I agree with the above statement I think you will find there were more people on the dole before the Labour party was voted in! Major and Thatcher did nothing about them either.
I cant see any of the political parties doing anything about it its far too much trouble and there's always a chance that the dolites vote them out
Workhouses should be brought back in my opinion, with a creche for the un married mothers etc no work no money, no income support unless your over 65. Its what put this country on its feet in the Victorian ages and it will work again
