Hi all

My home printer has died on me again so Im looking to replace it.

My last printer is a epson CX3200 all in one inkjet scanner copier, I do work from home but most work related printing tasks I print at the office remotely so the home printer is only used for occasional survey report forms, and home photos etc.

I do find the copier function usefull, and it would be usefull if I could connect to the printer via the network as I dont leave my home server on all the time.

Im not so sure I want to buy another epson  have had about six now I print around 4 or 5 times a month and a year or so later they stop working, all of my old printers were low milage and well looked after but didnt last as long as I expected.

I do have an epson centre close by so I will probably get a quote to get my old one fixed, (it deosnt seem very green throwing it away so if it can be fixed cheap enough it would suit the kids)

Inkjet or  laser any recommendations or printers to avoid?

Thanks Pete

Second hp - I've had a few Epsons and not only do they not last very long but they are heavy on ink - report I read showed that Epson calibrate the cartridges so that they cannot be completely used ... forces the user to replace them when getting empty - the report said Epson ink was more expensive than vintage champagne!

Brother multi function printer, great bit of kit.

I use the MFC820CW
USB, Ethernet, and WiFi connectivity. Reasonable ink prices and seperate cartridges.
Small footprint too.
Good value for money

QFA, just swap our last office Epson to a HP will see if they last any longer surrender

Got a Epson R1800 down home, which does stunning photos but its not the cheapest of printers no

QFA.

Hp's use to be good but build quality is too cheap now on low cost printers and it doesn't take long before they pack up. The commerical lasers and inkjets are good but pricey.

We got a Brother Multi Function printer which has fax, copy and print all network enabled.

Our main printer is a Canon Bubblejet though, excellent photos with a special tray for small photo paper and also a slot to print on CD's.

I 2nd that, different model but good bit of kit also, excellent all rounder, inks quite cheap too as they go.
I also have a  Minolta colour laser printer for best quality ,its getting old now but still giving great quality prints.

At work I have an all singing and dancing OKI colour laser multi function printer copier which so far has been spot on, I fancy a laser here and Argos have a samsung colour laser for £129.00 .

I dont like buying the cheapest though Id rather buy a dear inkjet than a cheap laser, it looks like its gonna be a HP though the brother is also a contender ? James which model Samsung was it?

Canon Pixma IP4300. Around £60. Good quality, loads of features including double sided printing and CD printing, and it has 5 cartridges (3 colour, 2 black), each holding more ink than average printers and each costing £10 or less.
