As some know recently moved.
Sorting out water supplier and requesting a water meter to be fitted.
Turns out one fitted in the street but not activated, going thru the process several questions were asked and eventually a questionnaire was asked to be filled out.
One series of questions asked about bathing habits. It was filled out as honest as possible, so;
5 showers per week.
2 Baths per week.
As a minimum.

Apparently according to the volumes they now recommend, I use too much water per week for personal hygiene.

This is from both the government and Thames Water suggested useage.

Try it yourself!

Apparently we are doing ok which i find hard to believe living in a house with 3 kids, 2 of which are 11 and 12 and mainly incapable of simple tasks like turning off taps whilst i'm in the shower causing me third degree skin burns..

BTW the water charged for our little premises is outstanding, we use a few cubic meters.

After we pay for what runs off the roof & sewage it would be cheaper to flush the shitter with perrier water....

we had a leak @ front of house a week ago, block paved and I checked the meter to make sure it was Yorkshire Waters side and not my neighbours or mine. Told my neighbour to report it as it was more on his side, he did, van came and went. I rang again yesterday as I was @ home and they said it was a meter check reported and it was fine? I raised a new enquiry and they were out yesterday @ 4pm ish, said they would return in a week or so. Just got back from York with the Mrs and it's been sorted. Great service imo.

Says my usage is low but some of the questions were a bit ambiguous like how many times do you use the shower  (are they talking per person or per family?)  They dont like me using the pressure washer to clean the car though

We are below average water users and the survey didnt take into account the water saving features we have in our brand spanking new home.
All our taps have 2 positions, low flow and normal flow, including the shower. Our bath is a water saving bath, its half the depth of a normal bath, personally i hate it as i liked a deep soak but i prefer a shower anyway.

Our hot water is Solar powered but if we run out its has a gas boiler back up, even in the winter the solar units worked apart from when the were covered in snow.

Ever light fitting in the house except for the kitchen and bathroom will only take a low energy bulb, they are not the normal bayonet fitting.

Before we moved here we paid through the nose for heating oil and electricity around £250 per month we spend about £80 a month now for gas & electric and that was winter, in the summer its gonna be less.

We used to pay £20 per month for water but now on a meter we pay £10, we are loving this eco friendly house of ours.
