So what category would you put a Berlingo van in?  And a Connect?    And what about a motorhome?

Well.... Berlingos come in different GVW's (Depends on engine and model) so it looks like some are treated as cars and some as goods vehicles.
And Connects are definitely goods vehicles.... (I think), so restricted to 50 on single carriageways and 60 on dual carriageways.

i think its one of these stupid government legislations that needs revising
i have just been told there is an anceinet bye law that says if you own a hackney carrage the driver and any passengers are allowed to urinate against the rear left wheel of the vehicle as long as you carry a bail of hay in the boot  scared
apparently this law is still in force to this day  001_smile

ka vans where made really because BT needed 'em whilst the fiesta was renewed, can only as 1.3 petrol

Highest gross weight for a berling (800LX) is 1990Kg taxed as LGV

now may be wrong but you can pee agaist the wheel of your can / van as long as you have one hand on the vechile???

Yes, you are right. It says so on the Citroen site.... but another site I was on yesterday gave different weights.

So, Berlingos are cars. Connects are vans. I guess Fiat Doblo are vans.

A friend had a sprinter and was done for 70 when he should have been doing 60!
On a dual carriageway!
So you had better read up the new rules, its the drivers responsibility not the companies!

cheers

AFAIAA the Berlingo with windows and more seats is a van derived car so is still limited.

After reading the rest of the thread I now have no idea how fast to go, so will just stick to 90. Wink

but its taxed as a car.....

You won't be 90mph in a berlingo, unless its downhill...

I think they make it up as they go along.

My Partner used to to do 90 odd in 4th uphill on the M1, I would imagine. Wink

You haven't experienced the new Berlingo engines. They are totally different to the old ones. Up hills in 4th gear! instead of the old days of 2nd gear and struggling.

My driving style is a bit like WRC so it's maximum revs in the lowest gears for corners for maximum speed out of it. I never actually found my old 02 plate partner sluggish or slow.
