heard on radio today about this

16 yr girl run down by marked traffic car , which was alleged to be at speed with out have its head lights on, throw 50ft & died at the scene, boyfriend tasered at scene then arrested

They wernt "on a shout", his ANPR had flagged a suspect car so he went tearing off after it, no headlights, no blues and no siren.
To be fair the area of Newcastle this happened in is a lot rough and stolen cars are a regular feaure of the area, but thats no excuse.
The 16yrs olds boyfriend was a 23 yr old man (Huh?) who went off on one, so they Tasered him, to some degree i can see why they might have done that.

Either way its a very sad affair that shouldnt happen.

Another case of the Police thinking that the rules apply to everybody else ... but not to them.

No excuse for a pig car to speed without blues & twos .... they are there for the benefit of motorists and pedestrians, to warn them of the oncoming Police car and the potential danger, but the Police seem to think they are only there to help them force their way through potential delays. Typical arrogant attitude!

I saw the confirmation of that the other day on one of those cops on camera programmes. They heard a guy who was wanted for failing to appear in court was nearby, in the same subrb i mean. So they went charging off at speed, till they hit the queues of traffic so they put the lights and sirens on. Now im all for catching idiots but is risking someones life (with or without sirens etc) really worth it for a failure to appear?

The idiot copper was found guilty today as it happened.

The prosecutions star witness was the top copper from manchester driver training school who stated that while not using lights and sirens did have its place this was certainly not one of those situations.
