Some Police forces including the Met and Devon & Cornwall Police have introduced a non-emergency phone number. It's 101. It's available in some other areas and will be nationwide by next year. Here's a link about it:

thought most had an 0845 ?

I assume they got the idea from the royal mail ?

999 the 1st class service for the more urgent crime, 101 for 2nd class items?

& like they royal mail they reserves the right to fail to do anything,

in fact don't they want the right to go on strike ? (RM like to strike)

Maybe we should combine the 2 ?  & get PSCO's to carry a mail bag whilst they wonder the streets ?

About time though its a pain in the arse having too look them up in the telephone book to report kids in the street riding motor bikes without crash hats, or stealing hub caps of your neighbors mondeo

They're talking of setting that up over here (thought it was 111 though) and you can now report incidents on a web based form.

111 is the Euro/American 999 number that was adopted here a few years back. Try it, see what happens Cheesy

I forgot to add "ethinc", nearly forgot my racism then!

Whats that joke, bloke rings up and says there is a break in across the road . They say too busy no one available, so he hangs up.
Calls back 2 mins later saying dont worry, i`ve shot him.

3 mins later a helicopter 5 cars 7 vans and 50 copers turn up, asking where the man who is shot is. Bloke says Thought you had no one available?
