I'm moving premises and I need to build a new office, so I was wondering what lighting to install.  The obvious choice is fluorescent, but is there something else I should consider?

It's an industrial unit. I can make the ceiling what height I want, but I will probably keep it low to allow for storage or a mezzanine floor above .... so probably no more than 7 feet

That's a thought, I might go for a retro look  ..... but I still need lighting. I don't like low wattage. I know it's energy efficient, but I have no interest in saving the planet ..... (I'll only be here for the next 20 years and I'm sure it'll last that long no matter what I do) .... and I don't like the light quality from low energy bulbs.

I suggest high pressure sodium lights for the office, say about 4, then in the storage bit some ye olde gas power wall lights, just next to the store of oxy acetylene cylinders that are used for soldering.

I'd assume cat 2 lights in installed in suspended ceiling?

maybe occupancy sensors? saw a klick type socket with pir's which plugged in via rj11's & also had a rj45 for further control,

If your going to install a suspended ceiling using ceiling tiles you could install 600 x 600 recessed modular luminaire with a category 2 louvre (they are to do with the angle of the light output for office/vdu use)

It may be worth spending the extra on high frequency units as they are energy saving, dont flicker and few others things that i cant remember at the minute.

If you were a bit closer to us, i come and do it for you, or give you a hand.

Now there's a thought ..... a Versigo office fitting party, where you all come along with your tools and I provide the snacks and beer ..... On second thoughts, maybe not.

... I think that proves my point   001_smile
