OK guys .... I don't think I've ever really asked for anything from any of you before, and I've helped a few of you in many ways .... so now I am asking.

In May of this year my wife was diagnosed with cancer and had to have a major operation. Since then she's been undergoing chemotherapy treatment and other drugs. I've lost count of the number of trips to hospital. It's been a very difficult time for both of us, especially for her of course.

Well, the treatment has now ended and this week she goes for a scan to see if all the cancer has been eradicated. As you can imagine she's feeling very nervous about the outcome. If the treatment hasn't been successful the prognosis won't be very good.

Friends & family have been great. One of the things that have kept her spirits up is receiving cards from them ... it shows they care.

.... so although most of you have never met her, she knows of you, cos on an evening when I'm typing away she asks who I'm 'speaking' to and I tell her about you all ..... so I'm asking a favour.

I'd like some of you ... if you can spare a few minutes ... to send her a get well card. It doesn't have to be anything special, and I know she will be thrilled to receive them.  .... so if you can I would really appreciate it.

Hi Paul,

I'm sure everyone on here has been affected by cancer in one way or another and can't imagine anyone who would not take 5 minutes to write a card and pop it in the post.

Kind regards....
Steve

Hi Paul

Sorry to hear about your wife, as Steve and others have said Cancer is a big thing, my aunt died Monday night she was riddled with it but was nearly 80 so had a good innings, both my inlaws have suffered, too my wife did the moon walk the year before last, and a cancer charity marathon walk in Brighton this year   I hope all goes well with the scan, a card from Sunny Worthing will be in the post this week sometime.

Pete

Paul, my wife had cancer 2 years ago whilst we were living in Devon.  Our moving back home to Hampshire was after she got the all clear as we realised then how far we were from those we loved and needed to be near.  It was hard on me too but I only ever realised that several months after and I didn't handle it very well at the time to be honest.   If you ever want to have a chat you have my mobile so feel free to call - this is not an empty gesture - anytime not a problem!

I will pop a card in the post this weekend.

I'm assuming you mean a PET scan so I hope that goes well, I will be thinking of you both.

Blimey! She's got a card already ...... from JPaul, but she doesn't know it yet ... cos tomorrow is her birthday, and she never opens birthday cards until the day. So along with some birthday cards she's got what is obviously a card in an envelope marked Cumbria & with Jpauls details on it..... She's quite mystified. She doesn't know I've asked you lot to send her a card and she can't work out who she knows in Cumbria.

I'm taking her for a weekend away first thing in the morning ... to keep her mind off things really. ... so I'll let you know her reaction to the card(s) when we get back.
