I've been on facebook for some time ...... and today I've made a Facebook page for my business, but is it worth the effort (I suspect not)? Anyone else do it? See any benefits?

If you can get it to make some money for you then great, but bear in mind its just a massive data mining exercise.

Depends on your business and how you run it, for retail it is worth it and can be beneficial purely because they want to interact with customers online in the same way as they do in person. For your line of work, if it costs nothing it can be worth doing, but it suits a different business model IMO. Might be worth chucking some offers on the page from time to time, might drum up the odd bit of interest from people seeing the name crop up in peoples news feeds.

So can other things.

What winds me up the most about FB & Twatter etc... is the way everyone bangs on about we need these things otherwise our world\life\business will fail\end. If you have some compelling reason to set up a page on these sites then do so, if you have no idea why you'd need a page on either of these sites, then don't.
