Did you know that photocard driving licences only last for 10 years ... renewing them is £17.50 tax. (OK, they don't call it a tax, but it is really)  mad

.. and if you don't, you can be fined £1,000   scared

Read all abaat it:  http://www.driven-ltd.co.uk/photodrivinglicence.htm

and companies will need to check their authorised drivers have renewed their photocards ... or the insurance could be invalid. You could even get the van seized I suppose

You should have both. Have you never had a photocard one?

Pretty sure you can use paper only unless you need to change name or address and have endorsements  to add.

cheers

You need to provide them with a new photo every 10 years and cough up some dosh...... then they send you a nice, shiny card for you to lose. Not having it available isn't a problem .... but there must be one on their files.

You missed the point, you dont  have to get a photo one unless you need to change details on your paper one. Paper ones are still valid. Mine is photo as i moved, and yes it has to be updated every 10 yrs

Ah, so that's why Rich only has paper. Sorry, didn't realise.

... but the photocards came out 10 years ago ... so every driver aged 27 or less has got one ... plus you and me.

Or anyone like me who lost his licence, got a new one only to find the paper one a week after the photo one arrived.
