Nope, and  error was in post not settings.
As previously stated the settings are fine for XP not vista. Got around the problem by using the "v" server.

Tried several ports to no avail. Even the website for Orange problems has no fix for this. Complete bunch of knobs at Orange cannot explain this either, then again 200 non English speaking Gupta`s in Deli would not have a clue anyway. Its like talking to Galaxy tech, they all have a  different answer thats not applicable to the problem!!!!!

Love to bin vista, however its loaded on this new lappy and  Microsoft  aint going to support XP for too long. Even now the new vista is being touted for 2010.

As for James, i think he is too busy to be bothered by my mail. Unless you know different.............................

Right, but your error message picture you posted says smpt, but if you've changed it then fair enough.

Orange are pretty much completely useless imo, i've always used my own domains smtp servers with ssl, most isp's do odd things with their own smtp servers and\or port 25. You can set up your own smtp server with authsmtp.com or register a domain for yourself. Most reliable and easy ways in the long term.


While I don;t want to turn this into a Vista rant as long as the drivers are available for XP then there's no reason to not use it. MS won;t just 'drop' support for XP, there's a lot of life left in it yet, and it'll still work after support is stopped, once it's working you could use it for another 20 years, it's not going to get any worse.

Vista i hated... with a serious passion. I found out i hated it so much because my laptop wasnt really up to it. Plenty of horsepower and ram and vista is great.
Granted not as quick as vista but more secure etc. But the way it handles media i think is worth the upgrade alone. Now sp1 is out it doesnt have all the issues it should never of had lol, and worth a go IMO

But ensure you have a high spec machine else it wont like it.

It says it can't connect to the SMTP server, then it gives you the address of the server you gave it, which is 'SMPT.WANADOO.CO.UK'.





Well actually, yeah on some machines. It is dual booted on the desktop at home and the laptop, although I do also use XP.


Still not convinced, I've had it running on high spec machines (dual core, 2g ram+) but it was painfully slow, not just a bit slow, wander off and make a cuppa while it boots slow. Played with it for a while, copuldn;t make it any better and it still does far too many stupid things for me to be arsed with it. Me being completely unreasonable? Yes, but I'm not bothered, I've currently got better things to do than try and get Vista to play nicely, probably why I spent so long to move to XP, that and the fact that out of the box XP tries to outsmart you and overrules half the things you tell it to do and turns off all the useful features.

Your  experience with Vista seems a bit sad, then again your games with XP sound like fun too. Trying to do stuff your not sure about?

You'd think. I just like things to work, things that don;t wind me up completely. There's no need for things not to work, especially when they once did work perfectly well. I haven't had a decent phone for 5 years as they keep being 'improved', but none of them do anything properly anymore, they all just do loads of things mediocrely. Windows XP is still far from perfect, but they've ditched that and moved onto Vista, and now the next version of Windows. Why not finish XP first heck, pisses me right off. If I performed to the same standards I'd have no customers ever.

Anyway, I'm just off to punch something.........

Punching things tends to hurt, and with technology that can be expensive lol.
I do know where your coming from though, I hate things to change for no apparent reason. Then we get "BETA" tested and pay good money for a trail that's flawed with errors.
As you say, if we were to be so changeable and give such shitty support there would be no business.

funny enough just removed the last our last 2000 cleint yesterday or sunday forget which, xp is surrported until 2014,

try E71 for a couple of days. seems to have enough cpu and ram for basic needs such as navigation, music, tracking, browsing and phone call at the same time without crashing (so far.. )

I'd looked at that one, might switch operators soon so I'll see what delas people do, might just go sim only yet. Currently I have an Ericsson T39m, best phone I've ever had, only one I've still got that hasn;t been killed with a wall related incident.

i've used floor lately but i think most important is to choose the one that is concrete as you might otherwise need a second try which might be embarrassing..
