We strive to help, but it is chargeable.

Right as i`m off for three weeks with the broken leg, got myself a nice new laptop to play with.

Dreaded Vista Home Premium.  Not so bad to play with as it happens. Anyway to my problem.

Added Firefox and Thunderbird all seemed okay until I tried to send mail, it will not send. Says check settings.
Using windows mail with the same settings is fine with both outbound and incoming mail.

Pop settings are fine with port 110 and smpt is good too with port 25 yet no joy. Looked on a few sites and saw no help TBH.
I have checked the settings on both my desktops and they are exactly the same as on here. Is there an issue with Vista and Thunderbird that i`m not aware of?

cheers

the firewall is 2 way now, have you tried disabling that first off.
And so you want to borrow a server to test against?

Windows firewall was off when tested, yet windows mail works.

Now working using your server, think its a vista/orange quirk.

Cheers big ears!

You can't send mail on
soz is in as smtp, my error on the 1st post

Working yet?

Error message says smpt, not smtp as it should be. You say you only made an error in your post, but your error message says your settings in Thunderbird are incorrect as well.

some internet operators don't allow using other smtp servers but their own with standard ip-ports "to reduce spam".. i have to use port 587 for example for smtp connection but that is up to your mailbox operator to define what ports to use.
