Enterprise tried to push this on us, it is copper clad aluminum we had. There was a small sticker on it, comtech flogged us the same stuff I now refuse to use it. At £12.00 a drum it is expensive crap.

Agreed, but we have already been down the pigs tail ventcroft stuff road. Never again.

8 core screened on site today. Complete not very good. CEF.

CQR costs more but is a far safer option.

Well going back to an old thread.

We had a free sample of cable from Edmondsons 100m of 8 core, the rep said it was the best cable on the market @ £12.50 per 100m..

We fitted 80m to a set of fire doors to test it and found it even worse than cheapo enterprise suff, 80m 27 ohm's
Good job it was free.

We've started using 6 core (CQR) to keep the cost down, I don't like doing it but there is £5 difference between 8 and 6..

I stopped using cqr due to cost.

The cpc stuff is really poor, like hair it is. It says 7/0.2 and bs4737, utter tosh.

Back on risco cable.

Done an upgrade yesterday, the existing cable was easily twice the thickness, forgot what it used to be like.

Why does comtel 6 core have a fake black wire in it? Is it to fool the knackered engineer at the end of the day?

CQR for us here, yes we pay over £15 but the cable is one are you cant even try and compromise?

We did use Ventcroft many years ago, they had problems with damaged cable mid way in the drum and we had volt drop issues with the thin cores.

Apart from concord (if you can still get it?) we would not change from CQR

~Shyity  cable hate it.
Rip core, rips your hands open not the outer sheaf.
Think Jeff mentioned is it 7/0.2, sorry ADI did, just looked.
Seen it have 5/o.1 i`m sure.
Nasty nasty poop.

Still not sure what the black rubber "Core" is for, no doubt someone has the answer.

On another subject, Jeff ya eyes are bad cos ya old. I now even have a pair of glasses for close up stuff. Its a pain cos I read  a book or two every two weeks.
Going to stop that soon and buy a Kindle. My books take up far too much space.
Worked it out as I was packing to move ( new place on Tuesday btw), must be 1.3 K (value, how the feck did I manage that?) of books I own.
Going to keep the leather bound and limited editions. Rest can go to a charity shop.
Anyone know of a charity shop that donates to Ex Forces direct? Could search but I think Ian.Cant could help here.

Sorry to digress here, but the last sentance is worth the ear bending.

My views are mine, like them or not most often they are right.
When they are wrong, you did not read the answer correctly.
