I know these print a different way but will the printed document look similar to an inkjet document,

I was going to get one to print my form ect.. on to ncr paper but need a dotmatrix to imprint the form on the second copy.

They will then be filled out by hand.

Will it print exactly what is on my screen in the same font ect...

Thanks

I presume you mean the tractor printers. The fonts will look similar... but in dots. If you deal with Gardiners, have a look at their invoices. The fonts are determined by your PC, not the printer.

One possible drawback: They are quite noisy.

I know they are, its just for me form. Ill print them in batches.

Just had a look at one, dont think that will be neat enough.

The fonts are determined by your PC, not the printer.

AFAIAA, bit of both both actually in some cases, depending on the printer and\or OS.

Fairly certain I've got a dot matrix connected to something here, not sure what though, haven't used it for a while!

I need a new one to be fair we run 3 dot matrix, 1 for callouts, 1 for maint paperwork, and one with a sheet feeder on for multipart a4 stuff.
I have 2 24pin epson LQ-1080 that must be 10 yr old now but are on their last legs (i need to lubricate the head bar)
have you seen how much these things are, they are nearly as much money as the 20ppm single pass colour laser  censored

We've had an increase in requests for connecting Controllers to a printer to give a simple log record of transactions - rationale being, this keeps cost down.
Causes great confusion when i tell them it really is a lot cheaper to by a PC and record that way, and they get all the benefits of the software reporting. For some reason, people think they can pick up a new one for around £80.

Yeah, they do fetch a decent price for a new one. eBay is sometimes worth a look for dot matrix.

The 3 network capable controllers.
ActPro1000
ActPro2000
ActPro3000

When the ActPro3000 is connected via TCP/IP the serial port is disabled. I've asked for this to be enabled again to allow the data to be fed to other systems. Eg, Printers, DVRs 'other software' etc.

Cinario the software house, previously did it via serial on a 2000. They are currently linking in to Actpro3000s via serial but the 3000 is on IP comms. These guys have the protocols though.
They are currently linking several sites to remote monitoring on site graphic display and, as far as i can tell, it is intended to roll out over many sites back to one control room.

Thats a nice project and far and above what im trying to do. The whole point of the versigo GUI is to link 4 intruder panels, 2 fire panels and 2 access control systems and an IP camera system to one GUI for onsite use, guards etc. I might do an ip one later but that is a far bigger project as transmission times and retries come into play
