hi i am looking to install a ip camera system for the first time only 4 cameras what equipment is involved apart from the cameras and can i run the camera back to a 4 way poe switch and then straight to the pc many thanks

Hi

Welcome to the forum,

Milestone have free software you can download from their website, it is fairly technical but if you are PC literate you shouldn't have too much trouble.

If you want something less complicated then look for web cams that come with their own software, Axis mobotix and most of the big brands can be viewed through a browser, setting them up for recording is a different kettle of fish, Im guessing the more basic ip cams come with their own software
