Note: This is a grade 2 job and the mask is not used.

Decided to try them again. So fitted 12 on a job this week, one had a tamper on testing so adjusted the cheap looking plate that breaks out when the detector is removed from the wall.  The detector go's mask opening the alarm relay as well as the mask relay.

20 mins later the detector is still showing mask and O/C i leave it and carry on with what i am doing about an hour latter i try to set the system and find zone 1032 O/C the detector is still showing open and is still in mask, i have to power it down to reset it.

Now i was going to use the quad and the iwise DT's as our standard detector but with what went on today  i am thinking of going back to the Honeywell 7550 DT.  I checked the instructions and i seem to have everything set up as it should , any ideas??

Don't like them, only used once and had exactly the same problems, not used since.

I have used these for the last 3 years and whilst you do get an iffy one every now and then mostly they are fine.

Are you powering them up with the lids on or off?  Not sure about other makes/brands but with iWise you need the lids on when power up.

Powered them up with the lid on.  But had to remove the lid after power up to check voltage @ the head on commissioning, that's when it went masked and would not clear until it was powered down.  This happened on 2 out of the 10 detectors.

They are just funny like that, if you take lid off then you need to power cycle them again after - I know it's a pain but it's just what you have to do!

do you want anti mask ? if not link in set will prevent it from coming on,

use them everwhere apart from an "engineer" hold got a phobia about tight ternials & 3-4 DOA's no issues at all

Just had a quick read of the wiring diagram for one these and it seems to me like you need to apply a voltage to the set terminal via a wire link from the supply voltage to disable the mask - the polarity to be applied should be the same as that of the link.

My detector has been on the desk for a few months now so may be different to the ones you are using.

Would the polarity not be the same if it was a link?

My views are mine, like them or not most often they are right.

The way I read it is you use the link to tell the PIR what the polarity to the terminal is.

This is risco though so the purpose of the instructions is not necessarily to instruct.
