Went to look at a take over today from one of the nationals. Its a large town centre store over 4 floors 9500 with 6 lims, Redcare and a URN.

The system is about 20 years old but never gives a problem. So i think is it worth my while???   I was going to quote to upgrade to a Galaxy as an option and see how we go. I wont go into how much the Maintenance is worth because that is not the issue here.

Would you take on a 20 year old 9500 on basic cover for a few bob??

Probably, with its history - eventually it'll need an upgrade, why give that work to someone else?
Sit on an easy income untill the bonus of the extra work comes along, (besides you're taking it from a national!).

We have codes for all the nationals round here.  Saying that you onlyhave to program EE, PA and entry times etc on a 9500.

Don't bet on it. I reckon you could drive a bulldozer over a 9500 and it'll still work. Only proper panel Scanny ever made in my book.

I would recommend an upgrade, include it as an option in the takeover quote and remind them that replacing it in the middle of the night cost three times as much should it fall over.

The 9600 had a software issue that caused problems with the entry zone not working every 1000 times or so..  i think
