Never had a problem with my car. Last night after a 70 mile round trip i fill up at my local ASDA store. I drive 3 miles home and about 2 miles this morning.

Then the car start running like a sack of sh!te. Wont go over 2000RPM and engine fault light starts to flash.  If i turn off and restart its ok, but i have to drive the car under 2000 rpm or the same again.

I am going to drive like this until 1/2 full then refill with Shell diesel and see how it go's

Have any of you lot had a problem with cheap supermarket fuel?

My first thought would be either dirty fuel causing a blockage or possibly frozen fuel if you've left it out over night.

Yes its left out over night, drove about 7 mile today and left it parked all day, but the same again on the way home.

I had a Nissan Almera Tino 2ltr Petrol that kept giving problems. The inside of the carburetter kept getting clogged up with carbon residue. I stopped using supermarket petrol on the advise of the Nissan main dealer and the problem stopped.

... but i've not had any diesel problems thank goodness ...... my nearest non-supermarket fuel station is 10 miles away!

Id get the car checked if the problem seems serious, though there was problems with cheap fuel from supermarkets, it was an isolated incident and i would lay money that they wouldn't want to let it happen again, and therefore have processes in place to make sure they dont.

I have used several different supermarket fuels since the last problem and found both Asda and Sainsburys standard 95ron better than BP's so called 97ron though nothing compares with Shell 99ron.

Seems the problems only started since filling up last night.

If you got toothache after changing your tooth paste would you blame the toothpaste? The fault could be any number of thingsI would get it checked in case its not the fuel it could be something more serious.

before xmas, had issues with morrisons fuel surging & coughing all the way to job from 1/3 of tank to cutting out on slip road then free wheeled in a shell garage primed system with 25/30 quid then behaved the 30 mile or so all the way back down the b road's home

I suspect there was water in the fuel ?

TBH its not a problem driving at under 2000 rpm for a while, i will refill if it keeps doing it i will have to take it to Honda £££££

I had a similar conversation this morning with me dad, i wont fill up with super market fuel anymore, i havent for well over a year.

It was on top gear or something similar last week, may have been a repeat, comparing the fuels. SM fuel lacked in power although only about 5 BHP and was said most drivers wouldnt notice.

I notice the difference, but that programme does show that it is different fuel and we are back to, you get what you pay for.



Next thing jeff and james will want is NACOSS fuel

fuel cost us the same whether it's bp, total or morrisons as keyfuels cards

andy prob's is maybe water in fuel or condensing in tank due to cold or fuel waxing due to cold, ecu issues which maybe curred but removing batery for 1/2 hour or so,

a tame garage with fault code reader?

I'd just stick a 1/2 a tank decent derv in it,

It will take me 250 miles at under 2000rmp to burn off 1/2 a tank.  lol

used the tesco 99ron in my car and it pulley 5bhp more on the dyno.
the wives car runns better on the shell v stuff but still gets the tesco 99
always put tesco or asda diesel in the trafic without ever problems
lpg is much the same everywhere in the conect, lol


id change the fuel filter(s) as a cheap 1st option before going to drop yer drawers at honda

And the way the roads are at the minute, thats about 3 weeks
