yup, also said that it was still a council house and the council would charge her for re-instatenment. lol, we should introduce that sort of credit control!

Shoreham is not to far from me, I lived there for a little while, I didnt realise they had council houses there as well (Its not that type of town)

We dont know the full facts but would you do £20k worth of work for somebody without being 100% that you will be paid?  I must admit I take small risks daily but always get a 50% deposit this way my costs are mostly covered.

Customer looks stupid enough to think that she would get away with it, looks the sort of person that doesn't think ahead any further than her next Giro.

I think there is more to this story, but both the builder and the customer have learnt something from it

Even so £22K is not unreasonable in Shoreham even if it is a council house

Who in their right mind unless they were exercising a right to buy, which she obviously cannot afford. Would build an extension/porch on a council house in the first place!

Did the builder not notice alarm bells ringing ( excuse the pun) when he did the estimate?
