We've just got it in our office, we used to use Alarm Pro. Just getting used to it really although its taking a time to properly sort out all the records because as you would expect its not that easy to transfer from one database to another. The mailmerge on it works like a dream and it saves every letter you sound out under the customer file so you can see who was written to and when. I think we went for the full version but havent got any of the add ons.
Thinking of spending some cash on a new system for the business.
What do you lot make of Alarm Master and how would it benefit my company??
Will it run my Database RM visits invoicing etc?
Any help would be great.
Thanks Andy
Andy, Do you have anyone in admin? I thought not! If im right then leave it a lone for the moment as it requires some one to run it. I am a great fan of alarm master and dare suggest i use more features than most, it runs our buisness and running the buisness is a full time job which i beleive is more important than fitting security systems. If im wrong then call me and if you like you can have the guided tour of the system. You may be better off with the SSAIB cut down version to start with and then upgrade as you grow. Jeff
We use alarm master, it does do what it say's on the box but it is a fair bit different from other databases ive used in the past (and I think thats the only problem i have with it, not the databases fault really)
If you use the standard package( and dont go as mad as Jeff) you will be fine it will tell you who's due for maintenance who's over due, produce standard maintenance letters, and invoices, it talks to sage too which is usefull for keeping your books straight.
So to summarise it is a good database so long as your not used to anything different, it will organise you so long as you let it, it has lots of bells and whistles but you dont have to use them it works fine without them, and the technical support is fantastic

Hoping to have an admin person by the end of the year, so want to get sorted 1st as would not like to show them the way i do it now and then show them the new way with alarm master etc.
Also if i am going down the route of alarm master etc i would like to start using it on the 1st of April, it makes sense to me.
Pete made some very good sense, I guess im just one of those people that buys a product with feature then i have to use them. Alarm master will force you to change the way you work, dont fight it as it will come back and bite you in the ass when you least expect it. I use the included accounts package without the sage line 50 links. The diary is possibly the hardest thing to change to, as its not friendly or "outlook" similar, Once you resign yourself to using it you realise why you broke away from outlook. I know an installer that has a wall mounted 40inch monitor with the diary showing all engineers locations seems to work for his busy office. Dont think you can start in April on a whim, it will take you longer than that to implement. Place all your data (including dead contracts) on the system is only the starting point, after this you will spend months scanning data to correspondence and cant see yo ever getting your old specs on the system. Then you have to get your download from ARC sorted your download from suppliers D/base along with ordering system and your agreed call out rates and time bands as well as uplift on profit for different customer types. You will need stock control, feck i could go on and on. lets just say April 09 should be fine. Will all this be worth it? Well i think so. Welcome to the world of business and say goodbye to being self employed. Call me after Xmas

On main contracts screen, horizontal buttons below the client details windows, first button left is FINANCE. Click it to see Financial Summary and Sage. Open the former (Financial Summary) and there is a STATEMENT button on there. You can check the box to have all items displayed or just those outstanding.
