I have acquired a 16ch DS2 it has a faulty hard drive pulled it out of a site we are upgrading.

I know its not just a matter of replacing the drive so how do i go about fitting a new drive ?
I have a couple of 500gig ide drives in our office so i assume they would be OK.

Spoke to DM but they seem to want an arm and a leg to fix it.

am not sure but didn't DS2 have the "system drive" on flash or something? i remember a conversation on the topic froum couple of years back but i can't remember the result.. (ok - who got surprised again??)

is the old HD completely dead? what i mean is you could try to take an image of the old drive and put that on a new one in case there is not a separate "system drive".

some distant memory flashback tries to tell me that some DVR had the HD paired with the HW /& FW.. prolly am just messing up more than being useful but that's as usual. LOL

Is it the NetVu newer unit?

I understand you can download the software from dm burn iso to disc & boot machine of cd/dvd & when it upgrades / reinstalls firmware it give option to format disc(s) via the green screen which you may install new dics's of certain type or retry the exisiting ?
