I need to quote a one way door entry kit.

The problem is the handset is about 160m from the door. So not sure what setup to go for.

Note: We would be fitting mag a lock to the door.

Any Ideas Lads Huh?  001_smile

Mag locks draw 1amp constant, unless you go 24vdc then its 0.75.

CAT5e wont help there.

What does the client need ?

Distance wont be the problem if the psu is local to the locking device, a relay will sort that out.

cheers

Most decent systems will run to 1000 mtrs with no problem, so shut it.

Was thinking of the following

Firmax one way kit or similar
Mag lock
External keypad with codes for staff
Egress and break Glass inside the door
Hand Set with release button in and office 160m away.

PSU by the doors

Poss cat 5 or 2 x beldon to handset.

cheers

Sod fermax, (personal opinion) , keypad - loads to choose from.

Now here is where i get a bit  pissy

Fit a keypad and some fool kicks it off the wall/frame/whatever  the door release contacts short and hes in !!!

Videx is a waste of space IMHO beta tested their stuff for a complex system and they failed to understand the implications. Fine for simple stuff, not for tricks.

Covers own backside, This is not to say videx  do not make great products.

As you say ok for simple stuff, never touch their telephone interface one we tried one once and returned it, they are crap.

Just mentioned videx due to they do a AC version most these days are DC with AC call no good for long runs.
